While the boat was on the hard in Trinidad we took advantage of doing a few jobs below the waterline that we didn’t tackle last time we were out of the water – namely, filling in a thru hull hole and installing a new depth and speed transducer. We are now ALMOST all up to date with modern (NMEA2000) instruments (the autopilot is the last, older NMEA 0183 device onboard but seems to be behaving itself and working with the new instruments, so if it ain’t broke we won’t fix it)
Here’s our grand list of things we achieved while we were on the hard for one month.
- Removed & filled in 1 thru hull
- Installed a new Raymarine wind transducer on the top of the mast
- Installed new depth & speed transducers under the hull
- 3 coats of ablative antifouling
- Sewed new couch covers
- Sewed new dodger (aka spray hood) & a sun cover for it
- Sewed winch covers
- Sewed line bags
- Sewed V-berth cushions
- Sewed lee cloths for v-berth
- Sewed aft cabin matress/hexagonal shaped sheets
- Cleaned & painted bilge in 1/2 boat
- Plumbed new forward head hoses
- Plumbed new fwd sink drain hoses (this is the thru hull we removed)
- Chain locker – removed inner divider for LOTS of space put in a new Seaboard floor, cleaned & painted
- A few other small jobs too like wiring, replacing the impeller, cleaning water tanks etc.
So while we have just one ‘boat job’ video, we have crammed a lot of work into the time we spent in the yard! We also explored for a week of that too so it wasn’t all work and no play!
